Take one problem you’re facing or a concept that you’re developing.

Then fast forward into the future to a time when you have achieved success.

  • What do you see?
  • What are you doing?
  • How do you feel?
  • What are people saying around you?
  • How do you know you’ve been successful?
  • What has been the secret sauce of your success?

Capture your vision using one of the following techniques.

Letter to the Future

Write a letter from your “future self” where you describe what you’ve achieved, how you achieved it, what obstacles you overcame along the way, and what was the secret to your success. Remember to write in the present tense (eg. I am, I have, We are, It is)

Vision Board

Thinking about your vision , find images and words that reflect the essence of what you saw, heard, and felt. Use these to create a collage. Then reflect on your Vision Board and tune into how it makes you feel. Put it somewhere you can see it every day (eg. screensaver, wallpaper, printed poster.)

News Report

Imagine you’re a journalist reporting on the success of your vision. Write a news report outlining the goal, the achievements, the results, any obstacles, and the secrets to your success.

taking action:

Bring your group together and select one problem you’re facing or a concept that you’re developing.

Then coach them through a visualization where they fast forward into the future to a time when you have achieved a successful outcome.

  • What do you see?
  • What are you doing?
  • How do you feel?
  • What are people saying around you?
  • How do you know you’ve been successful?
  • What has been the secret sauce of your success?

Allow time for each person to write down their thoughts and insights, and then share them. There should be no judgment.

Vision Board

Then get everyone to contribute to creating a Vision Board using images and words that reflect the essence of what they saw, heard, and felt. Collect them together to create a collage.

Allow time for everyone to reflect on the Vision Board and tune into how it makes them feel. Ask each person to share how they can best contribute to achieving this vision.

Post it somewhere where everyone can see it every day (eg. screensaver, wallpaper, printed poster)
